Our Services

Our services for intimate partner violence and sexual assault survivors are designed to help them with the healing process and to provide them with empowering resources for their lives. Our services for professionals and community members help them identify abuse and how to respond so future abuse can be prevented.

24-Hour helpline

If you or someone you know is experiencing intimate partner violence, sexual assault, or intimate partner stalking -- we can help.

When calling the helpline, you can expect to find a safe and trained member of our team to help connect you to:

  • crisis intervention

  • safety planning, including housing assistance

  • community resources and referrals

  • access to emergency safe shelter

  • information about our support groups and counseling services

  • assistance navigating the legal system

  • and the opportunity to meet with an advocate in person.

Emergency shelter

We often hear how this space feels more like a home than what someone normally thinks of when they hear the word “shelter.” It provides safe, emergency housing for survivors and their minor children in a confidential location.  In each of the eight individual bedrooms, colorful, handmade quilts cover the beds.  The communal living area is bright and open, with a double kitchen attached to the great room, so residents cooking meals can watch their children play.  During their stay, residents not only receive food, clothing and hygiene items, but also case management, resources and referrals, peer counseling, and additional support in achieving their goals.

Location

For the safety of our residents, the location remains confidential.

Do you need a safe place today?

Mary's Place: Supervised visitation & exchange center

Mary's Place is a safe and neutral location for supervised parenting time or exchanging children without the parents seeing or hearing each other. We are located in a daycare center so it is a friendly, comfortable atmosphere for both children and parents to spend time.

COUNSELING: We “GET IT”

Our counseling program offers trauma-informed therapy specific to domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, in both individual and group settings. Counseling services are free and completely confidential and those who participate in these services often say we “get it” — meaning we understand the needs of survivors. Our counselors are compassionate and supportive in helping clients heal and reclaim their lives. To be referred to our counseling services, which are currently offered virtually, please call our 24-Hour Helpline at (541) 389-7021.

Court and Legal Advocacy

Intimate partner abuse often continues post-separation. A common tactic is for abusers to attempt to use the legal system against their partner. Our advocates assist survivors in navigating civil and criminal matters related to domestic violence, and provide emotional support, as well as informed assistance with:

  • completing paperwork for restraining orders

  • connections to resources including safe shelter

  • counseling and other basic needs

  • referrals within the legal setting as needed

A bilingual (Spanish) advocate located in a private office within the Deschutes County Courthouse can help with the restraining order process as well as support survivors during various civil or criminal hearings related to intimate partner violence.
To be referred to these services, please call our 24-Hour Helpline at (541) 389-7021.

YOUTH VIOLENCE PREVENTION

Our Prevention Specialist brings Violence Prevention curriculum into all of the Deschutes County High School health classes each year.  The curriculum focuses on teaching affirmative consent, roots of oppression, intimate partner violence (IPV), domestic violence (DV), teen dating violence, sexual assault (SA), bystander intervention, and healthy relationships. The ultimate goal is to affect social norms for this next generation of leaders who can truly make life without violence a reality.
