Our Mission
Saving Grace offers safety, hope, and healing to survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault and engages Central Oregon to build life free from violence.
We believe in:
Declaring freedom from fear of all forms of abuse a basic human right
Empowering survivors of violence to make their own choices by exercising their right to self-determination
Respecting all people equally
Breaking the cycle of violence through education
Offering a program balancing prevention, intervention and support
Endorsing public policy making violence unacceptable in our society
Conducting our own affairs in an ethical and caring way
Establishing ourselves in a leadership role in the community to promote freedom from violence
Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
At Saving Grace, we are committed to the pursuit of Equity and Inclusion for all survivors of Intimate Partner Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking and are committed to creating a society free of violence for all. We acknowledge that part of our anti-violence work is to address and dismantle all forms of oppression, both at individual and institutional levels. Our goal is to address the root causes of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, classism, and the intersections of these inequalities. We realize we are at the beginning phases of this important work and are striving to deepen our commitment towards creating meaningful change for a more equitable society.
We are committed to:
Acknowledgement: Recognizing that throughout the history of the Domestic and Sexual Violence Movement, advocates representing dominant culture centered the needs of white, cis-gender, heterosexual, and abled bodied people while devaluing the work of BIPOC, LGBTQ, disabled and other marginalized communities.
Representation: Ensuring staff, volunteers, board members, service users, and organizational materials represent the diversity of our Central Oregon communities.
Listening: Actively seeking input from marginalized communities living in Central Oregon and implementing a consistent Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training program for all staff, board, and volunteers of Saving Grace.
Assessment: Continuously evaluating and assessing our policies and practices through an equity lens.
Action: Moving the work of anti-oppressive practice into tangible action steps, through the development of an Equity Action Plan.
Reflection: Pausing and reflecting on our work and progress at regular intervals to reevaluate and revise as needed.
